The Internet has become the backbone of modern society, which is why choosing the best Internet provider is crucial. With so many options out there, choosing the best can be daunting. But, you’re in luck!
We tested out various internet providers in the U.S. to find five of the best ones. Let’s take a look at some of them below.
1. Google Fiber
Google’s Fiber is the best internet you can get if you want to get a stable internet connection that’s extremely fast.
Their plans can go up to 8,000Mbps with symmetrical upload and download speeds. Right now, this is an insane amount of bandwidth for home internet. We used the basic gigabit plan which was still more than enough.
We connected smart home devices, HD security cameras, and other devices that streamed an unfair amount of media in the house. With all that Google Fiber’s performance was still exceptional.
However, this all comes at a cost. The 8Gbps plan costs $150 per month whereas the 1Gbps plan is for $70 per month.
Pros | Cons |
Gigabit Speeds | Limited Availability |
Extremely Reliable | Higher Prices |
Symmetrical Download and Upload |
2. Spectrum
Spectrum is primarily a cable company that also offers internet. Although most providers are moving on to fiber internet which can be more expensive, Spectrum sticks to cable internet which is a more cost-effective option.
Their service has no contracts or data caps and their internet prices are competitive. Although fiber is the best internet technology currently, cable internet is surprisingly good, especially compared to satellite or DSL internet.
Although Spectrum’s internet prices are relatively affordable, they usually hike their prices after one or two years so make sure to prepare your budget for sudden jumps.

No Contracts | Download Speeds Are Sometimes Slow |
No Data Caps | Prices Go Up After 1-2 Years |
Great Prices for Most Packages |
3. Xfinity
As one of the largest cable internet providers in the U.S., Xfinity Internet is an option you can’t go wrong with. It offers a WiFi 6E gateway and Xfinity 10G network that has a 99.9% network reliability.
They also offer low-cost internet plans for some households. Xfinity offers several internet residential packages that you can choose from. For a household with five devices or less, their Connect More plan for $25 per month is a great option.
For households with higher internet usage, you can pick their Gigabit plan which offers download speeds of up to 1000Mbps. This plan allows you to connect 12 devices at once, so it is ideal for big families.
Xfinity also offers millions of WiFi hotspots in some of the busiest parts of the U.S. and customers with a qualifying package can access them without any additional cost. The best part is that using these hotspots won’t count against your monthly data usage which makes them great for Xfinity users on the go.

4. AT&T Fiber
AT&T is known to provide some of the best internet customer service as well as great internet speeds. Their fiber internet plan starts at $55 per month and provides up to 300 Mbps speeds which is great when compared to other fiber internet providers.
Their internet plans have no data cap, which means you can stream any media to your heart’s content. AT&T Fiber internet plans don’t have any contracts either which means you won’t have to pay any pesky termination fees if you choose to cancel your plans.
While most internet providers aren’t known for providing amazing customer support, AT&T performed the best in the American Customer Satisfaction Index (ACSI) report. This alone is a great reason to get AT&T’s internet plans.

Generally, getting cable or fiber internet is something we always recommend getting. However, in rural areas, satellite internet can be a lifesaver.
Currently, Viasat offers one of the fastest satellite internet with an extremely generous data cap. Satellite internet has come a long way and now, you don’t have to worry about slow speeds if you opt for satellite internet.
The best part about using satellite internet is that you can get it in remote areas that don’t have access to fiber or cable internet.
Viasat provides speeds of up to 150Mbps which should be enough for most people’s internet needs and data caps are up to 850GB.
